This concert was in honor and memory of twenty-five plus year Mercer Community Band trombonist, Frank Stearns, of Greenville.  Frank directed the Mercer County Historical Society Chamber players and was well-known in the music circles of western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio.  An empty chair, trombone and community band shirt was placed near the bandstand in honor of Mr. Stearns.
The Ed Ceremuga Trio - Warm-up entertainmentVeteran MCB members, Lee (16 years), Doug (16 years) and Laura (14 years)The National Anthem sung by Jessica TaylorA large crowd was entertained by MCB's final concert of the seasonCandice Kiser, clarinet soloistMs. Kiser performed "Adagio & Tarentella""But Not For Me" was also presented by Ms. KiserAssistant MCB director conducted "The Beatles Forever"Valerie Vernon, vocal soloistMs. Vernon entertained with "Richard Rodgers in Concert"Another of Ms. Vernon's selections was "O Mio Babbino Caro"Ms. Vernon took the audience back with "As Time Goes By"The audience joined Ms. Vernon for the sing-a-long "Cheerio March"Dr. Hoge acknowledged the applause for his 32 years as director of the Mercer Community BandThe band finished the evening with "Sousa Spectacular"Cake was served to band members and friends, celebrating 32 years of the "Best Free Entertainment on a Friday Night"Thanks to Cindy Murdoch for the great cakes!
